Faith in Action

Mission Team

In May of 2019, the church sent our 20th annual international mission team to the mountains of southern Haiti, working with Haiti's Children, Inc.  Our primary goal is to bring the Word of God - in word and action -  to the poor. In Haiti, we provided medical care and eyeglasses, Bible School lessons that presented the whole Bible, and plenty of play sessions with the children.  We were blessed to provide a meal with generous portions of food to both of the communities we worked in.  We spent one day with orphans as well, providing food, VBS and playtime.
In previous years, the Team served in Mexico and in Nicaragua.  The Mission Team has also helped the victims of Hurricane Katrina and the poor in West Virginia.

Prayer Chain & Visitation

We have a phone tree that we use to put out calls for our members when they are in special need of prayers. If you need prayer, call our church office at (847) 259-2568 and we can get you on our prayer chain.

A few of our members spend their time visiting our members that cannot come to our church service every week. If you would like to be visited, please call the church office and we can set up a time to visit.

Garden of the Saints

The Garden of the Saints provides a place for interment of ashes of departed members and their loved ones, preserves the memories of members of Martha and Mary, and provides an outdoor place for prayer.

Scrip/

Amazon Smile

Scrip is a program that gives our church a percentage of sales based on the gift cards our members buy. Some of our top sellers are Jewel Osco, Meijer, Walgreens, Panera, Starbucks and Chipotle. There are many others on this retailer list https://www.shopwithscrip.com/shopwithscrip-retailers. After looking at the list, stop by our Scrip table during coffee hour to place your order.

We participate in AmazonSmile. On your first visit to AmazonSmile smile.amazon.com, you need to select a charitable organization to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. Amazon Smile will remember your selection, and then every eligible purchase you make at smile.amazon.com will result in a donation to LCMM.

Crop Walk

Did you know that the Crop Hunger Walk has been “Stepping Up to End Hunger” since 1969?
We celebrated the 50th Anniversary on Sunday, October 20, 2019. We had over 70 walkers who raised over $10,000! LCMM alone raised over $1,200 this year! Visit Crop Walk at their website for more information, www.crophungerwalk.org.

WINGS-LOGO-PURPLE.png

The mission of WINGS Program, Inc. is to provide housing, integrated services, education and advocacy to end domestic violence. LCMM has helped WINGS with their annual school supply drive, cleaning supply drive, Christmas gift drive, and the use of our building and property. There is more information about WINGS at their website, www.wingsprogram.com.

Food Pantry

We have an ongoing relationship with the Elk Grove Township Food Pantry. We donate goods to them as our cabinet in the narthex fills up. During Thanksgiving we collect the fixings for Thanksgiving dinner. The other big food pantry month we have is February. This is after the holidays and the food pantry is usually getting empty, so each week we collect PB&J, Breakfasts, Soup & Crackers and Dinners.

p.a.d.s

We help with PADS at by preparing and serving 3 meals for the homeless around Mt. Prospect. This is a program at Trinity United Methodist Church across the street from LCMM. PADS runs in the winter to give the homeless a hot meal and place to sleep for the evening.
